Science
At Monkwray Junior School, we believe that science is an essential part of every child’s education. Through exciting, practical and engaging learning experiences, we aim to inspire curiosity about the world around us and develop a lifelong love of scientific discovery.
Science encourages children to question, investigate and explore. We provide opportunities for pupils to develop their scientific knowledge and understanding whilst building important skills such as observing, predicting, testing, recording and evaluating. Through hands-on investigations and real-life learning experiences, children learn to think critically, solve problems and work collaboratively.
Our science curriculum is carefully planned to ensure progression in knowledge and skills throughout ks2. Pupils study a range of topics within biology, chemistry and physics, helping them to understand how science shapes our lives and influences the future. We have a huge focus on how we are working scientifically and the enquiry skills we are using in our lessons.
We encourage children to become confident scientists who are not afraid to ask questions and seek answers. By developing enquiry skills and fostering a sense of wonder, we help pupils understand the importance of science in everyday life and prepare them for future learning and an ever-changing world.
At our school, we celebrate scientific achievement and promote a culture of curiosity, resilience and exploration. We want every child to leave our school with the knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to continue asking questions about the world around them and to recognise the vital role that science plays in society.
We are proud to nurture young scientists who are ready to investigate, discover and make a positive impact on the world.
