Design Technology
At Monkwray Junior School, we believe that Design and Technology is an inspiring, practical and creative subject that equips pupils with the knowledge, skills and confidence to solve real-world problems. Through designing, making, evaluating and refining, children develop creativity, resilience and critical thinking while gaining an understanding of how design and technology influence everyday life.
Our Design and Technology curriculum provides meaningful opportunities for pupils to investigate existing products, generate ideas and create purposeful outcomes for a range of users and contexts. Through working with a variety of materials, tools and techniques, pupils learn to think independently and develop practical skills that can be applied both in school and beyond.
We aim to foster curiosity and imagination while encouraging children to become resourceful, reflective and resilient learners. Pupils are taught to evaluate their work and the work of others, understanding that design is an process in which ideas can be developed and improved over time.
